I recently witnessed a fascinating conversation. It fascinated me because I couldn’t believe people “out there” don’t know all the things I know. But then I remembered: I am a naturopath, which means I am a health nerd. I live in a gluten free, dairy free, non-GMO, organic, seasonal, locally raised, grass fed bubble. Right.

So anyway, a mom asked how much sugar is too much for her 3-year old. “How MUCH?!” I exclaimed in my head. “None!” Easier said than done, unless you live in a sugar free commune, right? But seriously, I was concerned about the daily intake of this child, and others, if moms are wondering about upper limits. In my opinion, sugar is a “sometimes” food for ALL of us! The moms, after a brief conversation, determined that if your child is otherwise healthy and well fed, then sugar won’t harm them. I beg to disagree! But you will have to stay tuned for my next post to learn why. In the mean time, read this article on children and sugar to help you understand a bit more about that classic childhood craving. Next time I will discuss the perils of sugar and other refined foods for children AND adults, and how to help satisfy your kids’ sweet tooth.

Enjoy the article!
